Van Gogh sunflower pinch pots.

Third grade used red clay to pinch out a sunflower pot.  Our inspiration was Vincent Van Gogh of course.  The students love creating these.  They also loved learning about the art element of "form" I'm sure!

Van Gogh is the master of cool.

First grade learned about cool colors and how Vincent Van Gogh used them in his painting "The Starry Night".  The students did their own version, they had to prove to me that their work ended up with a cool feeling.  They used a little bit of crayon and a whole lot of tempera paint.  Good job Vincent Van First Grade!

The Making of Van Gogh Sunflowers.

Van Gogh Sunflowers.

Fifth grade learned about Van Gogh and the process of painting the sunflower.  We used thick brush strokes to get the same feel that Van Gogh had in his paintings.  We tried to create texture through the paint.  We also discussed composition and how to lay out a peice of art.  Very nice results.
