Mr. Cleveland

My full name is Matthew Stephen Cleveland and I am originally from Oshkosh Wisconsin even though I was born in Dallas Texas.  I like it up North.  I graduated in the year 2000 from Concordia University Nebraska where I was on an Art and Soccer Scholarship.  I also have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction Integrating the Arts from Lesley University (which is based in Boston).  I am in my eighteenth year teaching Art here at Westside Elementary School.  Westside is an awesome place to be everyday.  I enjoy teaching the children of our community about the diversity of our world through Art.  It is simply a creative way to learn.  I believe that you can tell a lot about a person through their artwork (more than you think).  It's expressive, impressive, and meaningful.

Besides seeing me here at Westside you may also see me at the High School coaching the Girls Varsity Soccer Team.  I have been doing this for the past eighteen years as well.  Actually, I now coach some of my old students I had at Westside.  Sign of old age? No! Sign of wisdom? Yes!

Other than art and soccer I am also a husband to a beautiful wife and a father to a hundred little girls (actually just four).  I am not sure how that happened but I will gladly take it.  Currently my favorite color is pink, maybe purple......no, pink.

Anyway, that is a little bit about your child's art teacher.  Feel free to come in at any time and check out what the kids are doing.  My door is always open.  And if it's not it will certainly be unlocked.

Looking forward,

Matthew Cleveland
