The Sunflower.

Fifth Grade just finished their oversized sunflower paintings.  We learned about composition and how to use space. We also revisited what it is like to be a painter.  These are all fantastic.

Wow Art.

j

I had a second grade fella come bring this drawing in to me in the morning the other day. Fantastic drawing.  I love it when students bring in artwork that they did elsewhere.  It shows that they value,
enjoy, and love doing it.....and of course sharing it!

Poppies.

k

Third grade learned a tad about impressionism.  We were inspired by two great masters, Van Gogh and Monet.  They both did paintings that involved poppies.  The students learned how to show depth by making objects get smaller as you go higher up on the paper.  I am lucky enough to observe these paintings all day because they are now hanging on my wall.

Kindergarten painting practice.

j

This past week I taught the basics of painting to kindergarten.  They learned the know how of getting paint supplies out as well as putting them back.  The students also learned about lines and how we use them to paint pictures.  They loved it, and I loved that they loved it:)

Off and painting.

k

The 2018-19 school year is now rolling.  Week two and we are breaking out the paints.  These are some "ish" paintings.  This is a lesson I do with the second grade using the Peter Reynold's book "ish". Everyone has their own style and it is wonderful.
