I am your father!

Every once in a while one of my students and I will get into this heated discussion on which Star Wars episode is the best.  He argues that The Empires Strikes Back is the best.....so he snuck in this movie poster he made and put it on my desk.

Ceramic chair portraits.

Fourth and Fifth graders learned about Vincent Van Gogh and how he painted portraits of people by painting chairs.   He would paint a still life of a chair with items on it that represent the person he was painting.  So my students designed a chair that said something about themselves. Now if only they were big enough to actually sit in.....that would be awesome!

Sweet Art!

Fourth grade learned about Wayne Thiebaud and how he painted sweets and hotdogs and even lipstick.  He sold a lot of his paintings top the business world.  Anyway, the students sculpted a cupcake pinch pot inspired by Thiebaud.  Delish.

Roots.

First grade was learning about roots and how important they are when it comes to growth.  They even did a little planting in there classrooms.  So we decided to hit it home with a root painting.  Spring is in the air!  I love it when Art and Science collide.
