The ceramic owl.

Second grade worked hard on a clay slab project.  Our inspiration was the bird called the owl.  We discussed facts about the bird and observed the basic shapes it takes to sculpt an owl.  We also learned about the element of texture and how it can be used in art to create pattern.  I wish I could take all these home with me.

Kindergarten Ninja Turtle.

A kindergartner left this for me on my desk today as he left. Rafael the Ninja Turtle. I love receiving little masterpieces from my little artists:)

Kinder-turkey.

Kindergarten learned how to break objects into shapes and lines and put them together to create a recognizable image such as a turkey.  It is turkey season after all.  We also used our awesome painting skills to add color.  While the students did this they also learned some cool facts about turkeys.

Where the Wild Things Are.

Second grade explored collage.  I read them the awesome story "Where the Wild Things Are".  The students used wild papers to build, design, and create their own wild thing.  Oddly enough these wild things were very natural for them to do.  I think they reflect their inner selves:) Great work!

First grade spiderwebs.

First grade used scratch art paper to create spider web patterns.  I taught them to draw a "+" sign, then an “X”, then a letter ”U” to connect the lines. The students figured out how to draw spiders on their own. They thought it was magical.  Nice work first grade.
