Texture bees.

Kindergarten learned about visual texture and used a sponge to paint this bad boy....I mean bee.  The students thought it was strange to paint with a sponge until they saw that it makes cool marks into the paper.  We tried to make them "fuzzy".

Ladybug time.

First grade and kindergarten did a oversized painting of a ladybug!  I figure if  we start some Spring projects now Spring will actually get here sooner.  We discussed how to paint shapes to make a picture.  I also tried to get the little students to understand what a highlight is.  Advanced I know.  These look great.

Who are you project.

Fourth and fifth grade did a spectrum study that involved personality.  The students simply used marker with this one.  They had to discover several positive things about themselves in order to complete this project.  Amazing how much you can learn about a person by looking at their art.

Chinese characters.

Second and third grade worked on Chinese Characters in class.  We discussed language and how it is very different in different places.  We used black paint rather than ink for these.  it was a good time!

I Took Kindergarten to Africa (sort of).

My Kindergarten classes learned about Africa and Zebras and what their stripes are really used for.  They drew the body using basic shapes and then ripped paper to create the stripes.  They were a little confused on why I did not let them use scissors.  They then created a background through collage.
