For my 3-5 learners I did a lesson this week that teaches them about the “Day of the Dead”. “Dia de los Muertos” is celebrated mostly down in Mexico. I like to teach the Westside students about different cultures and tie them to the art world. For this activity we attempted an origami project involving the calavera (skull).
Here is a project that was posted from me this week. The students learned about the warm colors on the color wheel. I figured I would teach about color while the color is still out there. I received some good ones from our Westside artists this week! Keep it going.
Some of the classes learned about patterns and showed me they could create a monster using what they learned. Some turned out scary, some turned out absolutely adorbs! Happy Monstober:)
This was focused on the third through fifth graders. I have received some awesome ones this week! Happy Monstober!
This activity was for the younger students. We have been learning about line and how to use them in Art. This week we explored “moving lines”. Nothing but fun was had:)
My Art classroom where I post my lessons and art activities looks like this. It has been a fun way to learn and teach during this crazy pandemic. DEFINITELY is not as good as the real Art Room where learning and teaching are face to face. You do what you can do! Here are a couple of the activities I Tsingtao the kiddos:
It has been a great time of creativity these last couple of weeks. I got to learn about my students through their artwork. First they drew a picture of their family last week, then this week drew a picture of themselves.
First of all, my lessons are always posted in Seesaw for all students to do and turn in. That is my virtual classroom. I will also post the lessons here on my blog for easy access from anywhere. My first lesson is simply an introduction and a quick video on how “Virtual Art” will work.
After each lesson I will have a second video demonstrating the actual art making activity. In this case it is a challenge to draw your family!
Hello Wildcats! So this is the official last week of the 2019-2020 school year! I just thought I would post some of the Seesaw activities I had all my Westside students do here on the Art Blog. That way everything is all in one place over the summer. Feel free to revisit any of the activities again! Or not:)
Basically create a work of art that has a colorful sky in it! Try not to make it simply blue. Experiment with colors. Give it a try, you have nothing to loose!
Draw a dot on your paper. Then have fun doodling over your dot to make it more interesting. Use whatever supplies you have of course. Make it as big or as small as you want as well. Just be creative and give it a try...that is it! Oh, and don’t forget to sign it! Take care.
Basically you can draw yourself as a superhero! Use whatever supplies you have. When you are done feel free to save it or even take a photo of it and send it to me on seesaw. Either way, have fun being creative, and don’t forget to be a hero today!
Basically use whatever supplies you have and draw without erasing or starting over a picture. Whatever comes out comes out. Then title it “ish”. For example, if I draw a cupcake then I would title it “Cupcake-ish”. Have fun-ish!
Basically make a mask, doesn’t have to be Spider-man! Choose something that YOU are interested in. Art is about being inspired not forced. I was just inspired today to be Amazing:). Have fun with it! Have a great Weekend! Feel free to post a photo of you wearing your mask if you want to. Either email me or Post it on your Art Seesaw activity.
With whatever supplies you have, create by drawing, painting, cutting and pasting as many different colored Monsters you can think of. Can you create at least 6 different colors? If you choose to do this activity save it in a folder and show me when we get back together again.
Draw a story from your own life. Use what ever supplies you have at home. It doesn’t matter. You can even use a recycled piece of paper, just flip it over to the clean side! I will create a drawing of my story and post it here later today! If you choose to do this activity, save it in a folder and show it to me in real life when we get back together again!
My example is a doodle I did just using a black and a gray marker that kind of had ink in it:) This is a story I like to tell how I scored a goal for the other team.....with my butt. This happened in High School.
Well it is Distance Learning time! I will be posting various creative things here on this blog on school days. There will be things from reading art books, little how to doodles, other projects to try, videos, links to other creative places on the internet...basically all things creative! The goal you ask? To be creative!!! To be an artist!!! Enjoy life!!! Check back soon.
Distance Learning here we go! I invented Bubble Teaching.....it is where you actually have face to face class, but everyone is wearing a bubble! Brilliant I know!
Fifth Grade created pixel portraits this week in art class. Definitely a great time! The students were amazed at how successful they were at this. Success is good, simplicity is good:)
Third grade created these Heart shaped pinch pots. They learned a little more about the glazing process of ceramics. They are also great for putting valentines candy in! I heart art:)
At Westside we have these things called green paws. If you earn 25 you get to choose from a menu of extra fun stuff with an adult in our building. Well extra Art time is on there and the other day I got to sit and doodle with a third grader...this is a great way to get to know the students on a different level...a human level:) Even though he taught me how to draw cyborgs....
Every once and I while I will doodle something out on a scrap piece of paper and post it in a random place in my art room to see if anyone finds it....Martin Luther King Jr. showed up this week. That guy was awesome!!!
Some of our 5th graders currently have a piece of artwork hanging up at Beans n Cream right down the road. It is nice to have our Westside talent out in the community. If the artist was selected for the show they actually got rewarded in hot chocolate. Not a bad gig I must say!
Winter break is over, the year 2020 is here, and no snow. So we created our own in the Art Room! Happy 2020! I am almost positive snow is on it's way soon.
