Distance Learning: “Monsters Love Colors” by Mike Austin

CREATIVE ACTIVITY
“MONSTERS LOVE COLORS”

With whatever supplies you have, create by drawing, painting, cutting and pasting as many different colored Monsters you can think of.  Can you create at least 6 different colors?  If you choose to do this activity save it in a folder and show me when we get back together again.

Distance Learning: “I Am A Story” by Dan Yaccarino

CREATIVE ACTIVITY
“I AM A STORY”

Draw a story from your own life.  Use what ever supplies you have at home. It doesn’t matter. You can even use a recycled piece of paper, just flip it over to the clean side!  I will create a drawing of my story and post it here later today!  If you choose to do this activity, save it in a folder and show it to me in real life when we get back together again!

My example is a doodle I did just using a black and a gray marker that kind of had ink in it:)  This is a story I like to tell how I scored a goal for the other team.....with my butt.  This happened in High School.

To be creative!!!  To be an artist!!!  Enjoy life!!!  Check back soon.

Bubble Teaching!

Distance Learning here we go!  I invented Bubble Teaching.....it is where you actually have face to face class, but everyone is wearing a bubble!  Brilliant I know!

Pixel Portraits.

Fifth Grade created pixel portraits this week in art class.  Definitely a great time!  The students were amazed at how successful they were at this.  Success is good, simplicity is good:)

More Heart Art.

Third grade created these Heart shaped pinch pots.  They learned a little more about the glazing process of ceramics.  They are also great for putting valentines candy in!  I heart art:)

Clay hearts.

Second grade experimented with clay and different tools to create texture.  Since it is February we created hearts.  I heart this!

WOW art.

At Westside we have these things called green paws.  If you earn 25 you get to choose from a menu of extra fun stuff with an adult in our building.  Well extra Art time is on there and the other day I got to sit and doodle with a third grader...this is a great way to get to know the students on a different level...a human level:)  Even though he taught me how to draw cyborgs....

I have a DREAM.

Every once and I while I will doodle something out on a scrap piece of paper and post it in a random place in my art room to see if anyone finds it....Martin Luther King Jr. showed up this week.  That guy was awesome!!!

Beans n Cream Art Show.

Some of our 5th graders currently have a piece of artwork hanging up at Beans n Cream right down the road.  It is nice to have our Westside talent out in the community.  If the artist was selected for the show they actually got rewarded in hot chocolate.  Not a bad gig I must say!

January 2020 is here.

Winter break is over, the year 2020 is here, and no snow.  So we created our own in the Art Room!  Happy 2020!  I am almost positive snow is on it's way soon.

Action Jackson.

Fourth grade learned about Jackson Pollock and his way of creating art.  I tied this into their STEAM unit by incorporating sound waves and music.  Jackson loved to paint while listening to Jazz music.....so we gave it a try as well.  Now every time the students get paint they do this!  Paint everywhere......

I run this thing called turkey week in art class during this week of Thanksgiving.  Some how some way the students need to create an original piece of turkey art.  This trio of turkeys spoke to me.  Happy Turkey Day!

Beeeeeeees.

First grade has been learning about honey bees for their STEAM lesson. Since the "A" in STEAM is Art I figured we would create a hexagon puzzle full of bees together.  This turned out beeeeeutiful:)

Daisies.

Even though the snow and Winter has apparently hit us early here in Wisconsin, first grade had no problem painting daisies in Art Class!  That is the beauty in Art, flowers can be a year round thing:)

Trees at night.

Whelp, the leaves are officially gone!  Fifth grade did a nice job working with the combination of black chalk and paint to create value in these pieces.  They look good on my wall:)  I will give them back later.
