Fall colors.

Second grade knows the difference between warm and cool colors pretty well now thanks to this project.  The students also understand a little bit about contrast of colors and how it is important to use in order to create a focal point in a painting.

Value of a pumpkin.

5th grade did a value test.  The students had to come up with a composition using at least three pumpkins and a moon.  They had to prove to me that they understood what value was.  They had to show that they understand how a light reacts when it hits an object.  Art tests are totally fun (at least to me).

R.O.Y. trees.

Second grade has been studying color and how it all works.  This was a study on warm colors.  The students needed to show that they knew warm colors by painting warm color trees.  It turns out that the Fall colors are warm:)  Happy Fall everyone.

Lines and shapes.

Kindergarten used scissors to cut different lines to create shapes.  They have learned that lines are used to draw with as well as paint with and even cut with.  The students are starting to realize that lines are very important in the art world.  Now we just need to work on getting in line at the end of class;)  Nice work Kindergarten.
