Owls of November.

Well November is pretty much over and here are some second grade owl paintings that have been created.  The students used metallic paint on black paper.  we learned that basic lines can close in to make basic shapes which can in the end create a recognizable image. Pattern and contrast was then shown throughout the student's work as well.  On to December.

R.O.Y. Trees.

Second grade has studied the color wheel and how colors work together.  Here we used the warm colors (Fall colors) to create a fall landscape scene.  The background has the cool colors in it.  I can not tell you how important color is in Art....and in our world.

Before School Sports is on.

Here is a pass I designed for the sports program I help run.  It is nice to see our Wildcats outside of the art room.  Basically we offer an active way to start the day before the morning bell rings....good times:)

Where The Wild Things Are.

Second grade explored the art form of collage.  We went through my favorite children's book growing up "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak.  We then used different "wild" papers to create our own wild things.  There is just something about this project I just love.  It might be the wild part:)

Value pumpkins.

Fifth grade had a value test.  We looked at pumpkins with a light source and we discovered that there were in fact different values of orange that were created by the light.  we used this observation to create a piece of artwork that shows value using oil pastels.  Nice work fifth grade!
