Free choice clay.

Fifth Grade had a free choice clay day!  How cool is that?  An art time that allows you to just simply sculpt out of clay.  This dragon would have never been created if it wasn't for having a free choice clay day.  Yay for free choice clay!

Sun Prairie.

Second grade is learning about their community of Sun Prairie Wisconsin, so naturally we painted a sun and prairie.  We discussed the horizon line and how to layer paint.  We are also working on overall control with a paintbrush.  Sun Prairie rules!

First grade free choice paint.

I have said this before, but the greatest thing about teaching art is when you just give the kiddos a chance to just create.  This is a first grader's free choice painting.  I love the blue strip of sky on top, the green strip of grass on the bottom, the famous corner sun, and the wonderful lone flower being framed in and hugged by it all.  Wonderful.  Yeah, I like what I do.
