Piet Mondrian inspiration.
Third grade learned about an artist named Piet Mondrian. They discovered that he used to be an elementary school teacher who painted in his spare time. He got recognition in the art world for using only primary colors and applying them to geometric shapes. The students had a fun time creating in his style.

The painted spiral.
Fourth graders did a one day abstract project that involved metallic tempera paint and a spiral. I like one day projects because you just do them, enjoy them, and then move on. These kind of make me dizzy!

Printmaking.
Third grade went through the printmaking process with the subject matter of the Mexican holiday "Dia de los Muertos". The students created some relief prints of a skull design. They did a series of prints. I love these.

District Office Art Show.
These are the five selections that are framed at the District Office this year. Every year we have students loan out their artwork so that we can mat and frame it and display it at the D.O. We just had our award ceremony this past week. Congrats!
