Sock hop baby!

The whole school will be participating in a Sock Hop next week.....so my job as the Art Teacher around here.....socks!  We are dying them using tempra paint and water.  These are some from the fourth grade.  These will definitely help the students get their "hop" on.  

Family fun night mural.

A mural is something that can bring together a sense of pride and community.  At the Westside Elementary School Family Fun Night I had the different families come in and paint a mural together.  The only rules I had were to paint "Spring stuff" and to not worry what it looked like.  I have never seen my room SO colorful!  Don't worry, I assured everybody that the paint was washable (I think). 

Flower vase fingerpaint.

First grade learned about how if you you use basic shapes you can create a picture.  We also discussed pattern and the horizon line (which is basically the line that creates the table here).  We used oil pastel and flourescent paint for this one.  Everyone enjoys a vase of  flowers!

The making of the bees video.

This is the short video that we put together while the busy bees were working.  It's funny because two of my own kiddos got a hold of the ipad and "video bombed" it in the end.  Kind of like "photo bomb" but with video instead.  I think kids these days are just naturally techno smart!
